IRL Partners
In 2006 an international research laboratory (IRL) was created as a joint collaboration between the Georgia Institute of Technology (GIT) and the French Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique (CNRS). It is noteworthy that Georgia Tech - CNRS is the first IRL located in France. The laboratory is based both in Metz (primarily), France at the Georgia Tech Lorraine campus and also in Atlanta, USA at the GIT campus in the Pettit Microelectronics building.
In addition to the founding partners at the Georgia Institute of Technology and CNRS, the IRL involves four academic partners: two French engineering schools (CentraleSupélec and ENSAM) and two Universities (the University of Franche-Comté and the University of Lorraine). At partner locations, collaborative research takes place in CNRS laboratories co-sponsored by these academic institutions: LMOPS (Laboratory of Optical Materials, Photonics and Systems) at CentraleSupélec, LEM3 (Laboratory of Microstructures and Mechanics of Materials) at the University of Lorraine, and FEMTO (Laboratory for MEMS, Photonics, Metrology and Mechanics) at the University of Franche-Comté.
